Wolf Haven presents a special performance celebrating Wolf Awareness Week and Wolf Haven International?s 25th Anniversary. The program features The Russian National Orchestra?s ARX Music Quintet performing a one hour program combining Prokofiev?s well-known Peter and the Wolf and a new composition Wolf Tracks by French composer Jean-Pascal Beintus. The program is suitable for family audiences. Its educational value lies in a message urging preservation of forests and wolf habitat. The unusual collaboration of Russian musicians and North American wolf preservationists highlights the global scope of environmental issues and creates a way for the arts and sciences to convey an educational message through musical storytelling. The program is presented with one or two local narrators, who read scripts synchronized with the music. During the program intermission, a wolf expert presents information and engages the audience in questions and answers. The program can be previewed on the 2004 Grammy Award-winning CD, recorded in 2004 by the Russian National Orchestra with narration by Sophia Loren, Bill Clinton and Mikhail Gorbachev, at http://www.russianarts.org/rno/wolftracks.cfm
